FIFA 2010 Football World Cup Venues
Venues range in size from the massive to the intimate: Soccer City (Johannesburg) has a 94,700 seating capacity while Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg can squeeze in 42,000 football-mad supporters at a time!
Venues can be found in all the major cities across South Africa – Cape Town’s newly renovated Green Point Stadium can host 70,000+ fans and has what can be described as arguably the most scenic backdrop in the whole of sport – the picturesque Table Mountain rolling down to the Cape Aghulhas and Waterfront (a popular tourist destination at the heart of the Cape Town metropolis).
Other stadiums can be found in Durban, Bloemfontein, a second stadium in Johannesburg (Coca Cola Park), Port Elizabeth, Pretoria, Nelspruit & Polokwane.
Each venue will have its own unique feeling and if you are able to attend more than one game(lucky you!) then I strongly recommend attending a game at Green Point Stadium in Cape Town, along with one of the smaller venues.
A lot of the ticketing companies are selling packages with this in mind – One ‘big’ game venue along with a second ticket to a smaller venue – obviously with ‘pushing’ the smaller venues to ensure full stadiums throughout the tournament.
