FIFA World Cup European qualifying group
Within this group the teams are competing for 13 places. The nine group winners in the UEFA group automatically qualified for a ticket to the World Cup in South Africa 2010 while the remaining best second-placed teams will contest home and away play-off matches for the remaining four places.

- Switzerland and Greece from group 2
- Slovakia and Slovenia group 3
- Germany and Russia group 4
- Spain and Bosnia group 5
- England and Ukraine group 6
- Serbia and France group 7
- Italy and Republic Of Ireland group 8
